R11

Welcome to R11!

We are a Year 12 class of eight pupils.  Our teacher is Mr McNeill and our classroom assistant is Mrs O'Neill.

During this year pupils will be given the opportunity to develop their independence and have similar experiences as other pupils of their own age.  With parental permission, they will have the freedom to go into town on their lunch break, in pairs or groups, on a rota basis to do shopping, messages etc. or engage in local learning activities as part of the Life Skills' programme.

With the emphasis throughout the curriculum on preparation for adult life Year 12 incorporates more specific Careers education, Occupational Studies and Work Experience.  Accreditation pathways are continued in Year 12.  The Careers Officer from the Department of Employment and Learning works in conjunction with the class teacher to develop a transition plan.  A comprehensive career’s programme is delivered throughout KS4.

Every Wednesday the students will attend the NWRC as part of their Occupational Studies course to learn skills in Brick Laying and Tiling.

Work Experience

Pupils carry out two one week periods of work experience each year as part of their training for life beyond school.  These take place in February and May each year.  Placement of pupils relies heavily on the goodwill of employers to take on the responsibility of giving pupils a worthwhile experience of all aspects of the world of work and is very much appreciated.  We ask that you approach employers to acquire a placement but of course we are here to help.

Class Motto: We are responsible, hardworking role models

Term 2 Target: To be kind to others
