Welcome to 8B!!!
Our class consists of 4 boys and 2 girls. This year we have a new teacher Mrs. Millar who joined us in September and our class helper is Breda Burke.
We work very hard covering a wide range of subjects in KS3 as we follow the NI Curriculum:
Environment and Society(History & Geography)
Music and Drama
Learning for Life and Work (LLW)
Technology and Design
Art & Design
We are a very sociable class and enjoy linking up with 8A in P.E., H.E, Music & Drama.
On Wednesdays we go swimming with all of KS3.
As part of our KS3 STEM development, Sentinus came in to show us how air pressure can be used to launch the rockets that we built, along with some help by pupils from Limavady Grammar School.
Classes 8B & 8A enjoyed learning about hedgehogs as part of our habitats science topic. They also enjoyed seeing some live action night vision clips of foxes, deer and badgers found in the local area.
The class have been developing their communication and team working skills during drama.
Year 8 really enjoyed learning about diversity and sexuality with the help of Shona from the Rainbow Project in Derry.
Anyone who knows Ethan, know how much he loves bin lorries. As a special surprise for Ethan on his 13th Birthday, Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council brought in a Denis Eagle Elite 2 bin lorry for Ethan see. Special thanks to Amy-leigh & Ken Holmes.
8B have been working alongside Destined over the past 6 weeks to create our class weather board. We have been learning about the weather in environment and society. As a reward at the end of the project Destined took the class out for lunch and bowling.
This term year 8 pupils have been participating in the Shared Education programme in the Nerve Centre in Derry. Over the course of 6 sessions alongside four other schools in the local area, pupils have had the opportunity to participate in a variety of music workshops from singing, song writing, guitar, drums and music production through ipads.
8B participated in world math’s day by completing Mrs. Millar’s geometry challenge. Pupils had to construct 3D shapes using pasta and putty, as you can see they had some great out comes.
