Rossmar
School
Our work based learning programme has replaced the existing EA work experience model due to Covid restrictions. Although we look forward to a time when work experience in our local communities can recommence, pupils are gaining valuable skills by utilising our new school premises and equipment. When weather permits pupils engage in grass cutting/ground maintenance, window cleaning and litter picking. Pupils gain industry skills by upcycling furniture and making thematic woodwork pieces which are sold through the Rossmar Facebook.
Rossmar Coffee Corner has been a huge success thus far, where pupils serve a selection of hot and cold drinks and snacks to the staff. We have recently opened the coffee shop up to the public.
The portable Tuck Shop has reopened with a selection of healthy choices for staff and pupils to choose from.
Pupils use the hair and beauty space in the Life Skills area to practise and perfect skills learned during previous Occupational Studies Hair and Beauty.
Profits made from are work based learning enterprise have allowed us to run self-suitably without needing funds from the school. We have also treated all pupils in Rossmar School to edible treats at Christmas time to enjoy while watching the Christmas Show.
